DUCK DUCK JEEP

For a few months now, a trend inexplicably linked to Jeep vehicles has been taking over various social networks.

All the best ideas are born from situations and moments of particular crisis. This is what happened to a young Canadian woman, who could not expect that her small and banal gesture could turn into a trend related to the vehicles of the Jeep car manufacturer that would spread like wildfire on the various social-network platforms. It all started as a simple and casual detail that later became a trend of the moment for all fans and owners of the Jeep brand.

This is what happened to Allison, a young woman who lives in a small town in Ontario, Canada. One day, in the midst of the pandemic, Allison had recently argued with a driver in a parking lot and, to make up for the bad day with a nice gesture, she had thought of leaving a nice message of appreciation on a car she had seen parked on the side of the road. Having a series of rubber ducks in her bag,  she had thought of writing “Nice Jeep” on one of these ducks, leaving it resting on the door handle of a Jeep Wrangler .
The duck was then photographed to remember the moment and the image was first shared on Instagram with the hashtag #duckduckjeep, without imagining that it would be the start of a real trend. In fact,  since 2020, the practice of leaving some rubber ducks on a Jeep is still repeated . Soon after posting on Instagram, Allison decided to immediately open a community on Facebook, which still exists today and has 91 thousand members, where all Jeep enthusiasts post the ducks they have donated or received.

The “Jeep ducking” trend is also popular on TikTok

The #duckduckjeep trend was initially linked only to the Jeep Wrangler model, but later it spread to all models. The purpose of this trend is simply to give a message or a moment of happiness and lightheartedness through the gift of a rubber duck. This even led Jeep, at the Detroit Auto Show last month, to present, together with its cars, the display of the largest rubber duck in the world.

Finally, after Instagram and Facebook, the trend and hashtag of “Jeep ducking” has become very popular on the most popular social network among the youngest, namely TikTok . The photographs and videos of all those who give or find a duck on a Jeep have become tens of thousands with hundreds of thousands of reproductions, “likes” and comments. So, what should you do if you find a duck on your Jeep? It’s very simple: take a photograph or make a short video to post on social networks thanking the unknown sender.
